Southend NCI Fund Raising For Replacement Porta Cabins

Over the years the number of Coastguard Stations has dwindled (like so many emergency services). This means that if you are in trouble on the sea and you don't have access to a radio, you will have to rely on someone calling the emergency services. When we are on watch we continually scan the estuary and foreshore looking for vessels, windsurfers, Kite Surfers, paddle boarders , swimmers, dog walkers,  in fact anyone who could potentially get into trouble. We can then contact the relevant authority and guide rescue services to the area. We carry out a number of other duties but foremost is the preservation of life. The nearest Coastguard station covering the Southend area is Dover. Our lookout station is based on the MoD property at East Beach Shoeburyness, which consists of a 2-storey portacabin. Unfortunately these cabins have seen better days and both are in need of replacement
